“ First Race, First Trophy” It was my first race at the Jefferson County Fair. All the stuff that I seen gave me the goosebumps and made me scared because it was my first race. I saw a whole bunch of motorcycles and atv’s starting up, getting ready for the practices and races. There were a lot of them--I knew because I seen a whole bunch of trailers in the pits unloading their dirtbikes. The thing that made me most nervous was all the stands were Crowded with lots of people! I heard all the dirt bikes that were lining up next to me just roaring when they were revving their engines getting ready for the race. All I was think was about all the people yelling who they wanted to win. Then all of a sudden all I hear is my family yelling and screaming, “Go Chris!” I knew it was my family because my sister was there, and she is always the loudest in the crowd. I smelled the best smell ever, the smoke that is coming out of the exhaust from all the motorcycles revving up. When they put water all over the track for the track to be better to race on, I smelled the wet dirt smell come through my helmet. Since I had all the the gear and helmet on I was all sweaty and nasty. On the day of the race it had to be almost 100 degrees out. I tasted all the hot air and sweat coming down my face because it was so hot in the helmet and I was breathing so hard. It sucked! Last but not least I just felt my body getting really hot from all the gear. I felt the clutch pull in for me to shift up to 3rd gear, and I hammered the throttle to go even faster. Then at the end of the race I noticed that I got third out of three people, so I got last but since there were three trophies handed out i got my first trophy and i felt the happiness in me when i felt the trophy in my hand when i took it back to the truck to show my family. It just felt great showing my family.
