First day of retirement after 40 years of work. Interesting, complex feeling. I know I will grow to love it, but today I am a little disoriented. I guess every major life change (graduation, marriage, birth of children) is like this one way or another - but you forget this feeling. The one time that I distinctly remember feeling this way is when I moved to New York City (a city I had never visited before) to start law school. I was really disoriented for about two weeks. But then I started to love the buzz and excitement of the place. One thing that does feel good right now is my law firm and other former work colleagues gave me a beautiful send-off. It could not have been nicer. But this not only the start of a new chapter - it is the start of a whole new book! Which I am looking forward to sharing with my life partner, law school classmate, mentor, counselor and fellow parent, grandparent and dog-parent, Cathy Bridge!
