First of all, most of you dont care, so skip right over this... Second, Im fully aware of how little my opinion matters. Im only posting this to go on record to avoid being called a hypocrite later... The closer we get to d-day, the more it looks like the possibility of LeBum coming back to Cleveland might be a reality. So in my continuing quest for integrity in sports fandom, because some of you have asked me recently, and again to avoid people bringing it up later, heres my stance: 1) I have never been a Lebron fan. Ever. I have friends (for example, Cyrous) who can verify this. Even when he took the Cavs to the Finals I was never a Lebron fan. 2) Im not mad at Lebron for leaving. Im over that...Im mad about HOW he left. Disrespectful, immature, and just frankly stupid. (Sidenote: for a clinic on how to leave a city well, look back at what Ilgauskas did when he left Cleveland at the SAME TIME to go to MIAMI...he did it right.) 3) I will ALWAYS be a Cavs fan. No player can change that. 4) I will NEVER be a Lebron fan. If he brings 10 titles to Cleveland, I still will not be a Lebron fan. I will however be a Cleveland fan. So as Ive previously said, while as a true fan I will of course be happy when the team wins, I will not celebrate any championships we may or may not win with Lebron on the team as whole or complete. They will be hollow and meaningless to me. I am hopeful that he will surprise us and take his talents ANYWHERE ELSE so I can continue to root for my team with a sense of integrity intact. But in case the worst happens, I want a recorded statement of this. As far as the question Ive been asked of what it would take for him to win me over, I dont think anything he could do could win me over. But if he came back to Cleveland and apologized to the fans not for leaving but for HOW he left, I would be open to at least giving him a chance to prove he has matured. (Full disclosure: A check for like $100G would also do the trick. Im not above that.) This concludes all of my feelings on the matter.
