First off: the circle of fifths for guitar (?). Why? For piano, yes. But for guitar? Has everyone in here been handed sheet music in a professional context? No? Exactly. Has everyone noticed that string instruments kinda fall into patternized shapes that stay the same regardless of key? Yeah. Learning Theory? Absolutely(!!!). The CAGED sequence? Definitely. But the Circle of Fifths? Perhaps useful only to those who dont possess something called the internet which has unlimited access to something called mp3s. Theory, combined with ear training and repetition/practice, will get you there. If I hear one more guitarist say, yes, I know the circle of fifths, followed by a deer-in-the-headlights stare when trying to utilize actual scales in practical application.... Uhhhg. Rrr.... Learn the circle of fifths of you want, but for gosh sake, learn how to actually play the guitar!! And scales!! And how they relate directly to the progression(s) youre playing! The circle of fifths for guitar... Makes me want to find a classical composer and throat punch him. Rant over.... [insert grumbles here] Oh, and MERRY CHRISTMAS!! ;) tee hee
