First time Ive bought a car from Arnold Clark and last - TopicsExpress

First time Ive bought a car from Arnold Clark and last time. Thursday 7th August - drove my second hand Corsa away from sales room. Two days later realised there was no parcel shelf at the back so you couldnt store stuff unhidden in the boot. They told me to bring it in and theyd have one for me. In the meantime realised windscreen wiper was battering off car and heating and heating direction didnt work. Took car in to get parcel shelf. Two salesmen tried to shove it in but it didnt fit. Got another one. Didnt fit. Told me to come back on Tuesday 19th to get parcel shelf and heating/windscreen wiper etc fixed. Took it in to be told at reception that my car wasnt booked in. Heard another receptionist say: Thats the second one today thats not been booked in properly. However, was able to leave the car and went back in the evening to be told they had ordered parts and theyd phone to bring it back in. Just as I was leaving I said: And the parcel shelf? The guy went away and came back to say they hadnt got one, but would. No phone call after a week, so I phoned them. Oh, that has to be authorized by Sales and its not been done. Whit? Was finally called back and told to bring my car in AGAIN and also to get the illegal tyre changed. The WHAT? I asked if they were seriously saying they let me drive a car with an illegal tyre out of their showroom. They back-tracked a bit saying it was worn but not illegal. Oh thats all right then. Took the car in and when I went back the guy went through the list of stuff that had been done - tyre, windscreen wiper, parcel shelf, heating, heating director. So drove off only to find ten minutes down the road they hadnt touched the heating and the heating director still didnt work. Phoned them next morning and the guy checked and said that it hadnt in fact been done and Id have to bring the car in for the fourth time. Instead I put the phone down and wrote a complaint email to Customer Services asking if I could get my local mechanic WHO I TRUST to look over the car and fix what Arnold Clark apparently couldnt fix AND that they would meet the wages I had to forfeit by taking holidays off work through no fault of my own. Email came back saying it would take 48 hours to process complaint. Six days later no reply. In the meantime I was driving home at night in the dark and suddenly the heating panel lit up so I could actually see what i was doing. I didnt realise it did light up! After a few miles it went off again. Phoned Arnold Clark and told them I wanted to add that to the list of things wrong with the car and that I was scared to drive it if the electrics were faulty. They said they couldnt book me in for days because they were full and when I protested about my treatment, told me to bring it in the next day. No courtesy car provided. Two buses home and two buses back again to be told Id need to bring it in for the SIXTH time because they had to send away for parts.......AGAIN?! They said they would provide a courtesy car until I told them I left for work at 6.45am and got home at 8pm. That was going to cause a problem for them, they said. No, as a customer, I dont want to hear that. Im not interested in problems theyve caused for themselves by mismanagement, poor work ethic, atrocious customer service, lies and deceit. Just get it sorted. So, currently waiting for my car to be called in again. Theyre going to bring the courtesy car to me early in the morning, take my car away and then arrange for the swap back again late in the evening. I of course will get a list of all works done and get it checked by a proper mechanic and will never again use this company.
