Fist fight at COP meeting Published: Tuesday, September 16, 2014 While the Political Leader of the Congress of the People, Legal Affairs Minister Prakash Ramadhar and the party’s chairman, Public Administration Minister Carolyn Seepersad-Bachan were trying to heal their relations in the eight-year-old party, two prominent activists were engaged in a fist fight at the party’s Operation’s Centre in Charlieville, Chaguanas, on Sunday. This as the COP held its regular national council meeting. Deputy Political Leader of the COP Nicole Dyer-Griffith read a joint statement issued by Ramadhar and Seepersad-Bachan which was intended to heal their relations from the party’s July elections for political leader of the party. During that campaign the two openly criticised each other’s performance at the executive level. Around lunchtime on Sunday, two party activists had a brief battle outside the meeting room as one accused the other of being a snake. Sources say many in the COP were unhappy about the role of the activist who was called a snake. They accused him of being unfaithful to the party in the past. He declined comment on the matter when contacted yesterday, saying he was sorry for causing the T&T Guardian to waste its time. The other said he was not willing to comment on the matter. “I will use another option to deal with it, not in the media,” he told the T&T Guardian yesterday. Both Ramadhar and Seepersad-Bachan were in the building at the time of the incident.
