Fitbit Surge ‘superwatch’ breaks coverFitbit has a trio of new activity trackers on the way, one of which looks to be a GPS-enabled smartwatch called the Fitbit Surge.According to details obtained by the Verge, the Surge is a fitness-based smartwatch with PurePulse heart rate monitoring, GPS tracking and a rumoured price tag of $250 (about £155, AU$285).The usual staple of fitness metrics will also be recorded, so youll be able to keep track of how many steps youve taken, calories youve burnt and hours youve slept. There will also be the option to log your meals and water intake.Basic notifications for emails, texts and phone calls - as well as the option to control music playback - also look to be included, although Fitbit isnt positioning the Surge as a smartwatch to take on the likes of the Moto 360 or Apple Watch.Witness the fitnessFollowing the recall of its Fitbit Force activity tracker due to skin irritations, the company is complimenting the Surge with two other trackers to take its place.The Fitbit Charge and Fitbit Charge HR are, essentially, a replacement for the Force - carrying over health tracking and basic phone notifications. The latter will build in the companys PurePlus heart rate monitoring and is likely to come in at a slightly higher price.All three devices will sync with Fitbits app and also offer sleep tracking and the popular silent alarm feature.
