Five Arraigned In Court Over Job Racketeering In FIRS Five persons accused of job racketeering in the Federal Inland Revenue Service recruitment exercise have been arraigned before Justice Gabriel Kolawole at the Federal High Court, Abuja. The accused are Alex Oki, Ogbonna Agwu, Shauibu Mohammed, Kehinde Jamah and David Nuhu Kachia. The five, along with four others at large are facing a five–count charge of conspiracy, impersonation, and obtaining of valuables through false pretenses. Prosecuting counsel, Chinonso Edeh had asked the court for a date for witnesses to tender evidence against the accused who all pleaded not guilty to the charges. However, counsel to the accused, Ebenezer Agbadaki prayed the court to grant his clients’ application for bail which was filed in September. Granting the bail applications, the presiding Justice Gabriel Kolawole enumerated the conditions for bail to include the payment of the sum of N5 milion for each of the accused, presentation of two sureties each, which must include a top civil servant with a current tax payment record, amongst others. The matter has been adjourned to the 6th of December 2014 for further hearing. –
