Five years of absence from University bore positive results for a Green Card holder ‘Reinstated and then promoted by SKUAST’ =>Sher-i-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) has reinstated and promoted a green card holder after a study leave of five years. A delegation from SKUAST Shalimar Srinagar told CNS that Executive Engineer Vikas Shair who is a green card holder went on a study leave for a year and surprisingly after returning from abroad he was not only reinstated but promoted from Assistant Executive Engineer to Executive Engineer. “After the expiry of his study leave, the University issued couple of public notices, informing him that he will be sacked in case he did not join the University. He did not bother to reply to the reminders given to him by the University and did not join in time, but we all were shocked that after returning from abroad for five years, he was instantly reinstated and promoted,” one of the members of the delegation told CNS adding that incumbent Vice Chancellor showered undue favours upon him and instead of showing him door elevated him. The delegation alleged that VC SKUAST and Vikas Shair struck a deal under which the former motivated him to purchase all the material from his relative in Himachal Pradesh who is owning a furniture factory there. “It was a give and take. VC reinstated and promoted Vikas Shair after he agreed to make all the deals with the relative of the present VC SKUAST,” the delegation said. Refuting these allegations, VC SKUAST, Dr Tej Pratap told CNS that Vikas Shair joined in time and his promotion was due. “Yes, I made an inquiry to this matter. The file was lying with me but Vikas joined in time and we had no reason to suspend him,” he said adding that whatever purchases are being made for University are made through a proper committee. “Why should I tell Vikas to make purchases from my relative,” he said. When contacted, Vikas Shair said that he could not join the University in time because he was on a study leave. “I was waiting for the degree to get completed and once it was completed, I joined SKUAST without any dealy,” he told CNS adding that to be a green card holder is not a crime.
