Flat Tire - At 10:05 p.m. on Friday night, January 2, 2015, during a heavy rain storm and temperatures around 40 degrees, Officer Jared Bonner, Officer Tyler Adams, and Officer Casey Lander assisted a 63 year old lady with her flat tire. The lady did not have a spare tire and she could not get a cell phone signal. This was brought to my attention when she dropped off some apple sauce cake and a heartfelt thank you note to express her gratitude and she asked that the officers be recognized. Police Officers are actually trained to treat everyone we encounter with compassion, dignity, and respect. It is sometimes expressed as a simple question, “would you treat your mother like that?” This is an excellent example of the “serve and protect” actions I have been honored to witness from all of the dedicated employees of the LLPD. During their shift, Officer Bonner, Officer Adams, and Officer Lander also handled 14 other calls - 2 motor vehicle crashes, a report of a man with a knife, a suspicious vehicle, a loud music call, one residential and one business alarm, and a one disturbance. The actions of Officer Bonner, Officer Adams, and Officer Lander are worthy of special recognition. Good job Officer Bonner, Officer Adams, and Officer Lander (even if you did not share the apple sauce cake)!! Chief John Truehitt
