Florida educator Gerald A. Honigman will discuss his new book, “The Quest for Justice in the Middle East: The Arab-Israeli Conflict in Greater Perspective,” at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at the New Smyrna Beach Regional Library. Honigman said he will focus on “the plight of the millions of people in the Middle East whose causes barely get noticed while those of others never seem to leave the spotlight.” He also will stress the need to pursue "relative" justice in the region so all the peoples may have their own reasonable aspirations addressed. After his presentation, he will sign copies of his book. Honigman has done extensive doctoral studies in Middle Eastern affairs and is published worldwide. He has lectured at dozens of universities and hundreds of other locations over the years. The foreword to his book was written by Sherkoh Abbas, president of the Kurdistan National Assembly of Syria and a leading member of the non-Islamist Syrian Democratic Coalition against the Assad regime. Reservations are not required for this free program. For more information, call 386-424-2910, ext. 104. The library, 1001 S. Dixie Freeway, is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
