Folks, I dont care how many people gripe and complain about posts that are asking for help...Sure, there may be a few people who could make better decisions about their lives and ask for hand outs because its easy...BUT, I cant let those people stop me from moving in a positive direction and continuing to help those who actually do...That being said, Im going to ask a few of you to join me on this one...Read below: I received an inbox message from someone who wants us to help a group member who (remaining anonymous) has helped this group on many occasions...These are folks who always help, but now could use some of ours...The husband, and bread-winner, was just diagnosed with lung cancer...Heres a snippet on the inbox message... ...Its a family and the husband works right here on Dixie Highway. They received a devastating diagnosis and their life has become doctors, hospitals, and the copays that go with it. There are benefits to come but they doesnt happen overnight. In all the years of helping others, they now find themselves on the end they prayed would never happen. We cant let them down. They need a hand up - food that can be cooked as meals. We are not talking taking over a household, we are talking about after a long day of tests and doctors, knowing groceries are the one thing they dont have to worry about... Folks, THAT is what this community is for...To be there for the folks who are usually there for others... So, Donna and I are donating a compete cooked bbq dinner to the family and we are going today to buy them a grocery card..Wanda Oliver, at Oliver Outdoors on Valley Station Road, has agreed to let us use her place as a staging area for anyone who can donate pantry items to this wonderful family...Thank you!
