Food Wars: Shokugeki no Somas Teaser Video, Main Cast Unveiled The official website for the Shokugeki no Sōma (Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma) television anime began streaming a promotional video on Monday. The same video debuted at Jump Special Anime Festa 2014 earlier this month. The website also confirmed the four main voice cast members. Yoshitsugu Matsuoka will play the titular character Sōma Yukihira. The other cast members include: Risa Taneda as Erina Nakiri Minami Takahashi as Megumi Tadokoro Shizuka Ishigami as Ikumi Mito Manga creator Yūto Tsukuda, contributor Yuki Morisaki, and the above cast will attend a Super Stage event at Jump Festa 2015 in Chibas Makuhari Messe center on December 21. Yūto Tsukuda and Shun Saekis original comedy manga centers on Sōma, who works with his dad at his familys restaurant. His dad is a culinary master, and he often hosts cooking battles with his father. His father then enrolls him in an elite culinary school that is very difficult to enter, and the graduation rate is only about 10 percent. Yoshitomo Yonetani (Gaogaigar, Betterman) is directing the anime at J.C. Staff. Shogo Yasukawa (Terra Formars, Hyperdimension Neptunia, Invaders of the Rokujyōma!?) is in charge of the series scripts, and Tomoyuki Shitaya (Bakuman., BlazBlue Alter Memory, Hatsukoi Limited) is designing the characters. Jin Aketagawa is the sound director, and Tatsuya Katou (Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya, Free! - Iwatobi Swim Club, Medaka Box) is composing the soundtrack. The anime will premiere on television next year. Saeki and Tsukuda launched the manga in Shueishas Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in November 2012, and Shueisha published the 10th compiled volume on November 4. Yuki Morisaki, a cosplay chef and model, also contributes to the manga, and each volume of the manga features recipes. North American publisher Viz Media announced plans to release the manga in November 2013, and published the second compiled manga volume in North America on October 7. The company initially decided not to add the manga to its digital Weekly Shonen Jump anthology because the series is a little racy, but later added the manga to the anthologys lineup.
