For 9 years King has been at my side in the blind. Many days of no birds... or plenty of missed birds... and few days of retrieving limits but one thing has been always true... hes been excited every time Ive loaded the truck the night before, no doubt as sleepless as I in anticipation of the hunt to come. I always knew his body would give out before his spirit to hunt. Tomorrow we start a Chemo therapy drug to slow down his condition. There is no cure and the disease is slowly going to eat away at his body. I have dreaded the day when he will no longer be able to join me in the blind. I can only hope that this is not his last season with me... but the reality is possible that the end is near. No matter how frustrated I have been with him ... he has always been there. Treated my girls better then I could ever hoped.. even protected them. Although we do still have some time left in the blind together the question will still be there each time... is this the last hunt...
