For Day 4 of the Facebook art challenge I am posting some of my “studio” paintings. I usually paint en plein air but sometimes something just has to be painted indoors. “Waterlily” is a poured painting, done in layers using masking fluid. I learned this method of painting from Jean Grastorff. Paintings like this take a long time to do because they involve so much drying time between layers. “Sunset 1” is a stained paper collage. I took several collage classes from Gerald Brommer. This takes a lot of prep work before you even attach one piece of paper. The third painting, “Chinatown” was done using techniques taught in a workshop by Judy Morris. She teaches ways to make your paintings more interesting with texture in areas that make people take a closer look. I hope you enjoy looking at these paintings of mine. Today I would like to tag my friends, Gina Lento, Laurie Samara-Schlagether, and Susan Bracken Gilday. All three of them are also part of the PALS Plein Air Society. Gina Lento does wonderful pastels and sketches. I think she loves painting outdoors as much as I do. Laurie Samara-Schlageter specializes in Japanese brush painting. When she paints landscapes outdoors you can see that influence in her lovely work. Susan Bracken Gilday does beautiful work in acrylics, very often en plein air. Her paintings are often large and very colorful. All three ladies have something special about their work and I’m sure you will enjoy seeing it. Ladies, I hope you are up to the challenge!!! I would also like to invite my friend Chakarida Ai Nukoolkit from Thailand to participate. Ai and I first met through the internet and have been lucky enough to meet twice when she has visited the United States. Ai is a great urban sketcher and watercolor artist. I don’t think she has been tagged yet.
