For Immediate Release: September 10, 2014 ‘The Story of Sun Grown’ Animated Short Premiers Soon! Harborside Health Center promotes sustainable outdoor cannabis cultivation Oakland/San Jose, Calif. – Harborside Health Center is premiering its new animated short, “The Story of Sun Grown,” at 9pm Thursday, September 25 at 1840 Embarcadero, Oakland, Calif. PLEASE NOTE: This is an invitation-only event and not open to the public. Harborside is proud to present this 3-minute video illustrated by Goose Duarte and narrated by founder Steve DeAngelo that tells the tale of outdoor cannabis created from the ground up in Northern California. “The Story of Sun Grown” starts with Steve DeAngelo’s recollection of cultivation in the Emerald Triangle circa 1978, and continues through the CAMP raids of the ‘80s and ‘90s, before culminating in the present day celebration of top-shelf sun-grown cannabis. This animated short describes a 30-year journey of cultivation by the best growers in the land and with no small amount of humor. Harborside continues to be the leader in promoting sustainable sun-grown cannabis as an alternative to energy intensive lamp grown. Currently, lamp-grown cannabis accounts for over 8% of all electricity used in California. The CO2 emissions to produce all of this energy are astronomical. Harborside was among the first to highlight this massive use of electricity and to provide alternatives that are better for patients, and the planet. About Harborside Health Center: Founded by national cannabis leader, Steve DeAngelo, in 2006, Harborside Health Center is the nations largest, not-for-profit, model medical cannabis dispensary. The San Jose and Oakland medicinal cannabis collective offers its 150,000 registered patients free holistic healing services, lab-tested medicine and education. Harborside was featured on the Discovery Channel miniseries, Weed Wars, in December 2011, on the premiere episode of CNN’s “Inside Man,” hosted by Morgan Spurlock in June 2013, and in Fortune Magazine’s cover story, “Yes We Cannabis,” in April 2013. DeAngelo also co-founded the nation’s first laboratory cannabis-testing facility, Steep Hill Labs, and the country’s first cannabis investment and research firm, The ArcView Group. Out of the shadows and into the light epitomizes DeAngelos mission to enlighten the public on the many medicinal and therapeutic benefits of the cannabis plant and actively works to empower the country to change its image of medical marijuana.
