For Immediate Release UN Women National Committee Canada to Celebrate International Women’s Day at Lioness Gala TORONTO, ONTARIO March 4, 2014 -- Almas Jiwani, President of UN Women National Committee Canada, will deliver the keynote address at the Lioness Glam Gala 2014, as the Lionesses champion the cause for UN Women’s programmes with a fundraiser. The event takes place March 27, at The Grand Luxe Event Boutique, Toronto. International Womens Day is celebrated on March 8 each year and the theme for 2014 is, “Equality for Women is Progress for All.” “As we celebrate, let all contributions made be seen as investments in addressing the many critical issues facing women and girls. Violence against women and girls is only one issue at the heart of gender inequality and it continues to impede progress in societies around the world,” Ms. Jiwani said.
