For @Janine Giovanni - hen pictures... We got two Beechwood Blues also known as Bluebells, or Copper Blue Maran hybrids, and two lemony ones which are confusingly called Fenton Blues because they lay blue/green eggs. So went for the hybrids after all, but still trying to track down some seriously dark egg laying pure breeds, either Copper Blues or Wheatons or maybe some Barnevelders. Coop allegedly takes 10 hens, though I think 8 will be more than enough... :) (note the hen house now has an electronic door, though I need to fix some pulleys instead of my hand-made insulating-tape-round-a-screw which doesnt work. Theyre on their way. Coop is 4 years old, and seems to have withstood all the Shropshire weather can throw at it)
