For Jim!!!! Theres a football in the field. No kids around. The rains are coming. The birds know it the sky shows it. The freeways are empty. No cars around. Where has everyone gone? The streets are clear. Did everyone hide in fear. Thunder crackles in the Heavens. A bell rings in the distance. I run to the sound. My footsteps heavy on the ground. My lungs pulsing. My heart racing. The rain begins to cascade. The church looms closer. The birds arent singing the bells no longer ringing. Concourses of people have gathered. Im the last to arrive. My heart takes a dive. Everyone in black. Veils pulled down eyes turned down everyone has a frown. The sky lights up and angels descend. A casket is carried to the hearse. Nothing else could be worse. Tears stream from my face. I knew the man who passed. A great man indeed. To his family I plead. I loved him dearly.
