For Red Hills members & Lambert researchers The Will of Andrew Lambert, Senior. Monroe County Deed Book C, page 321. *Words spelled as recorded In the name of God Almighty. I, Andrew Lambert, Senior do make and declare this my last will and testament in the following manner. I assign my soul in the hand of the Almighty God hoping and believing in sermissive* service of my sins by the (illegible word) and mediation of Jesus Christ and my boddy* I commit to the earth to be burried* in a Christianlike manner at the descretion* of my Executor hereafter mentioned. My worldly estate I give and bequeath and desire as follows: (1) It is my desire and wish that my prst* (present?) debts are paid. I give and bequeath and desire that all, evry* (every) and each real and personal estate of my slaves, horses, cattle, goods, chattels which I have given, transferred, and made over at any time or times hereafter and previous to the date of and execution of this, my last will and testament to my children and (NOTE: An entry reads “the heirs of my son, James Lambert” is inserted here and has been marked through with a line) grandchildren hereafter named. (2) I give and bequeath and desire to (begin line marked through….my son William Lambert…NOTE: the previous line that reads: “my son, William Lambert” is marked through with a line). Restart: the heirs of my son, James Lambert, dec’d* (deceased), the sum of twenty dollars. (3) I give and bequeath to my son, William Lambert, boy: Charles Grace, girl: Lucy Eloy and their issue. (4) I give and bequeath to the heirs of my son, John Lambert, dec’d*, (5) for the granddaughter, Rosanna Ogburn, Esther and her issue. (6) I give and bequeath to my granddaughter, Polly Ann Lambert, boy: Joe. (7) I give and bequeath to my grandson, Andrew Milton Lambert, all of my land, one tract containing 80 and 31/100 acres (could be 80 and 3/100) it being the W ½ of the NW ¼ of Section 17, Township 4 North, Range 3 East, also one other tract of land conveyed to me by Moses Thompson containing 79 42/100 acres, it being the E ½ of the SW ¼ of Section 10, Township 4 North, Range 3 Eats with all in the county of Monroe, State of Alabama. (8) I give and bequeath to my grandson, George Washington Lambert, boy: Martin girl: Hannah Moore and her child and their issue. (9) I give and bequeath to my granddaughter, Eliza Ann Lambert boys: Ted and Aaron and Hannah’s children. (10) To my grandson, William Henry Harrison Lambert, I give and bequeath Matilda, Elick, and Dick and their issue. (11) I give and bequeath to my daughter-in-law, Sarah Lambert, widow of my son, John Lambert, dec’d, Peter & Aaron, the household and kitchen furniture, pick of the horses, mules, cattle, and wagon. It is my desire that Sarh Lambert, widow of John Lambert, dec’d, have and hold the property above described for use and occupancy service to home without any accountability until each one becomes the age of twenty-one. (12) I give and bequeath to my son, Andrew Lambert, Junior boy: Henry and girl: Annie and her children, Dennis (illegible, hard to read) and Mitty and Henrietta and their issue. (13) I give and bequeath to my son Isaac Lambert boys: Ned, Cato, and Tom. (14) I give and bequeath to my gaughter, Polly Ann Thompson, Chassy, Eli, Pleasant, Chassy’s children and their issue during her natural life and after her death to her daughter, Joanna Thompson. I, Andrew Lambert, SR., do hereby make and constitute and appoint William C. White, Executor of this Last Will and Testament hereby revoking all others of former date, wills, and testimonials made by witnesses. I have hereto set my hand and seal in Monroe County, State of Alabama aforesaid this 22 day of August in the year of our Lord 1846 signed, sealed and delivered by said Andrew Lambert as and for his last Will and Testament in the presents* of us who have hereto set our hands as written and in the presence of each other. Andrew Lambert (X) his mark. Witnesses: James M. Boyles, Edwin Holley, Perry Lambert Filed by Rufus C. Torrey, Atty. At Law, 22 day of December 1846.
