For Sale: very cool old Stromberg Carlson tube PA head reworked for use as a guitar/bass amplifier. $175 Im not sure when it was built but when it originally came off the bench your grandmother was still hot. Chuck Mathes went through it several years ago and Ive been using it as a bass amp for band practice and for re-amping in the studio. Im selling it because I am buying another bass amp next week and I dont have the room for this one too. Its 3 channels. Channel 1 is the original voicing. Channel 2 has been voiced more for guitar. Channel 3 was voiced for bass. (If you want to, you can also use it to amplify your record player...). Rumor has it that this is based on the old Fender Bassman circuit but I cant confirm that in any way. It has a multi-tap output transformer @ 4, 8, and 16 ohms. (Handy!) Im guessing its about 50 watts. It does break up some when using it for bass. Its got a bad ass overdrive when you plug in a guitar and turn it up. Its tube rectified and has the old metal preamp tubes and uses 6l6 power tubes. The vintage TUNG-SOL 6l6 tubes you see in this picture ARE NOT included in the sale. I will replace them with a pair of new 6l6 tubes should you decide to buy it. And it has the coolest chicken head knobs youve ever seen on an amplifier. Ill be sorry to see this thing go, but I need some room around here.
