For a jaz/swing guitar setup I do love 12-52 or 13-56 flat wound strings with a wound third, but.... Are there any other guitarists out there who wish you could buy lighter gauge flat wound guitar string sets with a plain third? There are many times I wish I could have the warm thump of flats but still have the option of bending the plain G up a full step. This set up would be perfect for early rock and roll/rockabilly, a gig where you play 40s-60s country (and need to cover Hank Garland AND Don Rich territory) , or a guitar that is often used for jazz style playing but occasionally needs to do other things, too (like blues or more modern tones). Ive bought 11-50 flat sets plus a stack of plain .018s for years for the guitars I use this setup on. I wish I could get that without needing to buy additional strings and wasting a bunch of good flat wound Gs. Does anybody else have experience with this need? I think heavy And light gauged flats with wound thirds serve an excellent purpose, but packaged 10-48 and 11-50 gauge flat sets with a plain third would really be useful!
