For all my teacher friends, if you dont think the smallest things - TopicsExpress

For all my teacher friends, if you dont think the smallest things you say make a world of difference, read the following testimonial I just received from one of my favorite former students: Hi Mr. Craig, I hope all is well, I was writing an english assignment and I wanted to thank you as a teacher for telling my english had improved in my second year at VMS. Anyways, here is the assignment in case youre interested in reading it, besides that Id love to get a copy of your novel where can I get it? Best regards, Charlie One of the greatest accomplishments I have ever achieved happened throughout the summer going into eighth grade. I had struggled speaking English at Vail Mountain School and outside of school, and I detested not being able to speak in Spanish. I was frustrated and angry because I couldn’t communicate as well as I wanted to, I wanted to be witty and smooth talker. How I finished seventh grade is still something that I’ll never know the answer to. Regardless, I worked all summer in a place that required speaking English to tourists and only watched TV in English so I would force myself to learn through listening. I did not realize how much it helped until Mr. Craig, who was my English teacher in seventh grade nonchalantly told me that my English had improved. I was joyous. It was unreal to me that television and poorly speaking English daily had had an impact on my accent and my grammar. If it wasn’t for him telling me that my English was better than last year I would not have discovered that until later. To this day, learning English has been one of the greatest accomplishments that I have ever achieved, and it has also become an irreplaceable asset.
