For all of you waiting on an update, or even a slight explanation.... Today I went to Court as a witness for the Prosecution (of Ontario) , pursuant to Shawns arrest and charges of domestic assault and uttering threats in an incident on April 29th of this year. Court was long, it was tiring, but I told my Truth, and I believe I successfully waded through the cross-examination that was full of double-speak, dubious suggestions as to my motives, and the use of semantics to avail the Court of my honesty and the facts surrounding my experience on that evening. Defense counsel was a Bully, but that is his job and what he gets paid for. Thankfully (?) I have had 10 years to learn how remain calm in the face of such people, and believe my account of the evening in question was truly heard by the Court. Thank you to the Gananoque Police who answered my fears on the day that I reported in a calm, polite and non-judgmental manner; who did their job just I would hope any police person would do. They left me feeling heard, respected, and outlined a clear expectation of what was to come in the next few days for for me. Thank you to the Police Sergeant who testified under oath today. Thank you to all of them for continued policing support in the whole matter, and making me feel safe in my community. Thank you to Victim/Witness Services of Leeds and Grenville who took the time to let me know what to expect of the Trial experience and let me ask so many questions a few weeks ago, in order that I could feel at least a bit more comfortable in the experience. Thank you for being present today in your official capacity, for helping me feel calm and assured about the Justice system. Thank you to Mom and Dad for being there and holding my hand, giving me hugs when I needed it, and keeping my mind off of things when we had a break but could not talk about the Trial, as I was still under oath. Thank you just for being you and loving me through anything. Judgement will be read on Dec. 17th. Thanks to all of you who wished me strength, luck and good vibes today, even if you were not sure of what was going on. I did call upon that remote support several times today. Some of you will learn more in private conversations over the next few days, but for now, this is what I feel I can reveal on a public forum. Plus, I am beat and will say an unusually early goodnight to all of you, and treat myself to some re-runs of the X-files. :-)
