For all those people who have no better reason to support Rear Admiral Frank Bainimarama and the current Government should know two pertinent facts: 1. In 2006 when he took charge, the income tax threshold in Fiji was $8840 which means that people earning any dollar more than $8840 had to pay taxes. The Tax threshold in Fiji today is $15,600 which means people earning below $15,600 are spared the trouble of paying income tax. 2. In 2006 people earning more that $20,000 were paying $2674 plus 31% over $20,000 in income tax. Today those who earn between $22,000 and $50,000 are paying $420 plus 18% over $22,000 in income tax. For those earning $50,000 and over are also in a better position than before which is a huge relief!!pheww! That is huge savings when one does the calculations. All those intellectual types who are blowing the trumpet of democracy and are belittling the Bainimarama Government, if they are genuine enough, should really put their money where their mouth is and should refund all the tax saving they have made under the Bainimarama government and start paying taxes at the rates applicable when Qarase or any other supposedly democratic government was in power!!
