For anyone who maybe interested in one of our Tai chi workshops - TopicsExpress

For anyone who maybe interested in one of our Tai chi workshops here is a little bit about Andy, the guy who will be taking the workshop, take a few minutes to read his resume..... I have enjoyed martial arts for many years. I went to my first lesson in Judo when I was just 12 years old and through my teenage years tried many different styles including Karate, Aikido and Jujitsu. Later in my life I decided that it was time to travel to a source of internal and traditional martial arts where you would be able to learn a great deal about all aspects of the art. I had at this point also been studying Yoga and basic meditations for a few years. In September 2007 I made the decision and travelled to China for the first time to start my journey. The first martial art I studied was Plum Flower Mantis Boxing and I studied it for just three months. After the Mantis training I had the bug and in June 2008 I embarked on a major journey, travelling to China to study with a master I had met at the previous school, for a full year of training 6 days a week for eight hours a day. The master I studied with during this period was called Master Chen. He is a very renouned master in China, specializing in Baji but also being a master of over twelve other martial arts, not to mention his experience with Qigong. Master Chen has been awarded two gold medals for some of his achievements. One was for the Qigong form he created that is now widely accepted in China. (creating a form is a very rare thing to happen as the art of Qigong has existed for thousands of years) The other medal was awarded when Master Chen broke the Chinese record for being hit with the heaviest battering ram and surviving. This is a test of hard Qigong and your ability to focus your Qi. During this training I also travelled to the Wudang mountains for a three week Daoist internal alchemy meditation and theory course. This course was run by a very respected master called Master Hu, who is the author of many books translating and explaning Daoist writings. His knowledge is unparalleled and he is the most intelligent person I have ever had the privilege of meeting and to be able to study with him was a great honour. The course consisted of three meditation sessions a day, each lasting for one and a half hours each. After the full year studying with Master Chen I then travelled to Qufu as the head master from the first school I studied at had setup his own school. At this school I studied for three months in Shaolin. I was very lucky when I arrived at the school because I was the only student and there where three Masters. One of which was the headmasters younger brother who at that time was the head of the shaolin warrior monk temple. This three months of training was extremely intense but also an amazing experience. I then spent six months in Guernsey teaching and practicing what I had learnt whilst earning enough money to travel back to China. But this time I wanted something different. I had heard of a Master that had started teaching again in his home town of Qufu. (Confucius home town). I did a lot of research and found that the master (Master Wu) had many achievements and years of experience, but more importantly to my progression were the styles he taught. I was looking for a focused internal art and Master Wu is a master in the Wudang styles and specializes in Bagua in which he is in the top ten of all of China. From this master I learnt so much and trained with great enthusiasm. The basis of my training was Wudang Tai Chi and Bagua with many Qigong forms and meditations. My training with Master Wu lasted for sixteen months, after proving to Master Wu that I was a serious student ready to do whatever he said and train all hours of the day. My day would start at 3am, I would have a two hour break at lunch and the train from 2pm until 5:30pm, after dinner I would meditate and then retire for the evening at 7pm. Since my training in China i have run many different classes in Guernsey and just love to share my knowledge and experiences with other people in the hope that it will improve and evolve there lives consciousness, and spirit making their lives more fulfilling and joyful.
