For billions of years a universe unfolded, its elements spewing forth in the eruptions of stars, its energy expanding in all directions. Over the eons of its growth, life in various forms appeared, abundant and similar in its basic chemicals; chemicals formed from molecules formed in the ovens of dying stars. And then seemingly from nowhere a creature, a complex structure of life, began to comprehend its surroundings in ways unbeknownst to time and space; then this creature began to understand itself, and then its world. And within the blink of an eye in time and upon a world that was no more than a spec of dust on a thousand worlds worth of shores, the universe began to understand itself
