(Perris, CA, September 11, 2014) The PAS Senior and Young Gun Sprint Cars will both be in action at the “Southern California Home of Major League Sprint Car Racing,” Perris Auto Speedway, this Saturday night, September 13th, at the Glenn Howard Classic. Joining the two divisions on the all open wheel program will be the Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars and the California Lightning Sprint Cars. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM with the first green flag of the night at 7:00. For the Young Guns, it will be their final race of the 2014 season and Trent Williams, a 17-year-old racer from Victorville, already has one hand firmly locked onto the championship trophy. Williams carries a 27-point lead over Holtville’s George Morris heading into the finale. Unless a much larger than normal field shows up on Saturday, all Williams should have to do is start the main event to lock up the crown. Saturday’s race will be the last time Williams makes a start in the series which is for drivers 14-21. Like last year’s champ Logan Williams, who is not related to Trent, he will be moving up to the USAC/CRA Series for the 2015 campaign. Unlike the Young Guns, the Senior Sprints, for drivers 45-years-old and older, will still have a pair of races at the 19th Annual Budweiser Oval Nationals presented by All Coast Construction left on their 2014 schedule. Recently turned 63-year-old Bruce Douglass of Ventura holds a 23-point lead over Santa Clarita’s Bill Badger heading into Saturday’s race. After a slow start to the season, 2013 champion Rick Hendrix of Palmdale is third and only 40-points behind Douglass. Second year driver Steve Brown of Corona holds down the fourth place spot while retired Riverside dentist Jim Giardina is fifth. PAS Young Gun Point Standings 1. Trent Williams - Victorville - 348 2.
