For my Quintuple next week, I am going in w NO official crew. It does seem slightly crazy but I just couldnt get myself to ask anyone sit on the side of the road, watching me go back and forth for 4-5 days. That would be somewhere between watching grass grow and a train wreck...if those things could be combined? For those that arent familiar w the format, the swim is in Lake Anna, but we will swim 400 meters back and forth for 12 miles. The 560 mile bike is 2.5 miles out, a u-turn around a traffic cone, and 2.5 miles back. And then the run is 131 miles of 1 mile out, u-turn around a traffic cone, and 1 mile back! Yes, a brain KILLER. But the good thing, because we go by the aid/start/finish tent area so much, I THINK I can fend for myself...and just mix my drinks (threaten suicide, and puke) on my own. Im calling around pizza places in Spotsylvania, Va to see if I can find a shop to deliver me one pizza every night at about midnight! Yum! Worse case, my man William Ironox Pruett whos showing up early in the week for his Triple, has offered to be my cheeseburger delivery guy...what else could I possibly need?!! 6 days away!!
