For our foreign readers: PROTESTERS ON EUROMAIDAN CLAIM FOR PRESIDENT AND GOVERNMENT RESIGNATION – POLL The main demand of the protesters is resignation of the president Yanukovich and the current government. These are results of the poll conducted by the Gorshenin Institute among the protesters on the Independence square in Kiev. Thus, answering the question “Why are you on the square and what are you claiming for?”, 55.9% respondents stated that their demand is president and government resignation, 27.9% - for signing the Association agreement with the EU, 18% - for their right to a decent life in a normal country, 11.7% - to protect their children (against the use of force). Further there are following answers: this is my civic duty (8.1%), for our children’s future (4.5%), supporting the opposition (0.9%). Undecided were 0.9 % of respondents. Half of the respondents (50.5%) live in Kiev. Further in the descending order follow Lvov region (11.7%), Kiev region (9.9%), Cherkassy region (5.4%), Ivano-Frankovsk region (4.5%) and Khmelnitsky region (3.6%). Share of the representatives from the other regions did not exceed 3%. The Gorshenin Institute would like to stress that findings testify on the protest radicalization, and despite strong pro-European sentiment, the focus has shifted to political requirements. Street survey Ukraine Today was conducted by the Gorshenin Institute on December 2, 2013 among participants of the rally on Independence square in Kiev. Total randomly selected 538 people were interviewed.
