For our friends in the UK... Finally, Lyme is getting recognition in the UK. The only thing we dont agree with is they say most ticks do not carry infection. How do they know when it is so hard to test for the infection and there are over 300 different borrelia world-wide? This is not counting the parasites and other infections that ticks can carry. WALKERS are being warned about the dangers of ticks when in the countryside. The warm weather means more people are out and about but experts warn this is also the peak season for Lyme disease. The disease is transmitted through tick bites, which are more common at this time of year, particularly in the South Downs or Ashdown Forest.
