For sale - A genuine piece of British pub history! This sign was liberated with permission from the old Royal London in Wolverhampton on its closing night many years ago, just after the smoking ban came in around 2005 or 2006. Id love to know how many people have looked or sat under this sign over the years, its definitely in the tens of thousands, and I was proud to have been one of them :) This is one of the two signs that were hung in the front windows just to the sides of the front door, one pointing towards Broad Street, and this one which was facing towards Stafford Street and the Varsity. If you ever found yourself stumbling down Stafford Street or out of The Varsity and into the Royal, this was the big yellow light that you saw from miles away, and is exactly the same one that guided you in like the giant drunken emo moth that you once were :P Ive looked after this sign for the eight or nine years since I cut it down from the ceiling on the last night, and its been kept dry and in excellent condition since, wrapped up and protected in an old blanket, but times are tough, and it needs a new home. Ive included a Pepsi can in the pics so you can see the size and scale of it - it really is a big illuminated sign at 700mm in diameter and just over 100mm in thickness, but its so lightweight you can easily pick it up with one hand. It has two mounting points if you want to hang it up, and it is in fully working condition - it still lights up with a bright yellow glow! But youll need to wire it into an old extension lead with a plug yourself just like I did, or give me one and Ill wire it in for you. It would be nice to keep the sign as is, but if youre into your crafts, you could so pimp this rustic sign up really easily, Ive had a few ideas myself over the years but have kept it as is and original for as long as Ive owned it. Apart from the Scream writing, its pretty much a blank canvas, as the opaque circular yellow background with the writing on simply unbolts and drops out, so creating a new insert with your own logo or writing on is as simple as cutting a 700mm circle out of transparent plastic sheet and closing it up... Got any ideas yourself? :) Id like to get this moved as soon as possible, and Ill be advertising it on the Buy it, sell it, swap it pages here on Facebook over the next few days, but I thought Id give everyone on my friend list first dabs, so if youre interested, please make me an offer! I will include free local delivery to your doorstep with this item too :) Please feel free to share this post, and if you do, thank you very much in advance!
