For some reason, I have been up all night missing my Grammy... I - TopicsExpress

For some reason, I have been up all night missing my Grammy... I just realized that she went to heaven exactly 1 year and 3 months ago today... In her last few years here on earth she wasnt herself... Alzheimers had completely taken over and she was a different person... I try not to think about the years that she was sick though... I try to remember the good old days with my up beat Grammy who took care of me when I was sick and my mom was at work... I would sit at the bar in her kitchen and watch her make food... I distinctly remember her waffles! :) they were just simple frozen waffles that you put in the toaster, but there was something about those waffles that was just delicious! I wish I knew what brand she bought... She always put the perfect amount of margarine and syrup :) never too little, never too much! Then I would curl up in a chair in her living room or spread out on the floor as she watched golf and I would take a nap because, honestly, what kid wants to watch GOLF? But maybe that was part of her master plan! When I woke up from my naps she would make me a sandwich with chunky peanut butter (yuck) and strawberry jelly (yum!)... We would sit at her dining room table and eat and talk... When we finished lunch we would usually play go fish with her poker cards or I would get out a puzzle or some silly old toy she had stashed away in her cupboards. Then when I got bored I would take another nap until my mom came to get me. I always loved sick days with Grammy! :) she made being sick not so bad :) I miss Grammy a lot! I know for a fact that if she hadnt have gotten Alzheimers that she would sill be alive today. She would probably be waking up rite about now to get ready for the day and getting ready to go to Solvang for the week... My Grammy did amazing things in her life and worked her way to the top :) Born in 1919 she was taught that she had to be a good wife and mother who had to clean and raise the children... Well my Grammy said screw that (but in a much classier way) and started her own business... A woman, in the early 1900s, working behind a desk, building a business! Her neighbors must have thought she was mad! Something like that was practically unheard of! My Grammy is the reason that us women get to work! She was a strong independent woman who reached for the stars and didnt stop till she was 82 years old! She changed the world... I love my Grammy! Not only was Grammy a perfect womans rights activist, she was also a beauty! Always dressed to the T! Blazers with skirts, nylons, and high heels every day! No matter where she was going she was in a skirt and heels! She always had on all of the matching, large, overdone, jewelry... The necklace, bracelet, ring, clip-on earrings, broach, other big sparkly things she could stick on her outfit and she always rocked it! Her hair always looked like she just left the salon, and her makeup was just so beautiful! She looked perfect all the time! :) My Grammy was the best Grammy anyone could ever ask for! 1919-2012 she passed away of a pneumonia in her bedroom at Sunrise, she was taken great care of there! She got such wonderful care from everyone who worked there! Brittany Blietz, thank you for being her best friend :) she really loved you!
