For some reason tonight I am remembering some of the great leaders - TopicsExpress

For some reason tonight I am remembering some of the great leaders and men I worked with and served with while coaching football and ministering. These men were military men that I have had the honor of knowing and observing daily in some instances. I had conversations with each that I will never forget. While coaching at Hampden-Sydney College, Lt. General Sam Wilson was our President. Gen. Sam was the Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, commanded the 6th Special Forces Group, was the Defense Attache to the Soviet Union and a Deputy to the Director of the CIA. While coaching at Hargrave Military Academy, Col. John Ripley was our President. Col. Rip Ripley earned the Navy Cross, Silver Star, 2 Legion of Merits, and 2 Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart during the Vietnam war. Once we played the Naval Academy and saw an exhibit of Col. Ripley blowing up the Dong Ha Bridge. And finally in ministry...my friend and brother, Lt. Gen. Jerry Boykin. Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence, Deputy Director of Special Activities for the CIA, and founding member of Delta Force. Interesting that I am the first man in my family line for generations to not serve in the military, but have served with and under these great men... and that when God speaks to me it is in military terms and strategies...Thankful to know and have known these heroes and great leaders...
