For some time Ive had the opportunity to visit LC-39A. Curiously, - TopicsExpress

For some time Ive had the opportunity to visit LC-39A. Curiously, however, I found myself putting it off, and I came to realize that this was because the prospect is emotionally loaded. Years ago, seeing 39A for the first time from the bus was what turned my space switch on. I have the distinct feeling that I havent seen the last of the inside of the VAB or LCC, but being able to stand on LC-39A is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, made possible only by a gap in launch activity that wasnt even supposed to open in the first place. (Unless someone has the hook-ups.. :P ) Its immensely heavy in every possible way. Public pad tours close forever tomorrow. Today I will meet an old friend for the first time, and Ill be able to properly acknowledge the tremendous impact it had on my life.
