For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, - TopicsExpress

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. Dearly beloved, Wish you a Happy Independence Day. Once Lord Jesus went to a city called Jericho. There lived a man called Zacchaeus in that city. He was a chief tax collector and was fond of money. As he was short, he climbed on to the top of a tree to see Lord Jesus. On seeing this, Lord Jesus said to him, "Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house." (Luke 19: 5,6). Let me narrate a real incident that happened in a foreign country: A married man who was wallowing in terrible poverty somehow wanted to come out of his dire state. So he rented out a place and converted it into a dance club. His wife and daughter were trained to follow the dance profession. Days passed by. Money and fame increased and finally he became a millionaire. One day, the government filed a case against him, but yet he won the case. Goaded by the lust for money, he earned money through evil ways. Soon after, a child was born to his daughter. After this, the daughter’s popularity started going down. Unable to bear this setback, she became a drug addict. Finally, she fell sick and was troubled by a peculiar cough. When taken to the doctors, it was diagnosed that she had lung cancer. Only then the father’s eyes were opened. By then, it was too late. She died at the age of 28. After her funeral, when this man was returning home by car with his little granddaughter, he pointed out to her all the buildings, hotels and shops that belonged to him and the little one was counting them one by one. Finally she asked him, “To whom do all these belong?’ He said that he bought them for her and her late mother. The man was broken when he heard his granddaughter saying with tears, “No grandpa, I don’t want anyone of them. Give me back my mother.” He cried out, “Alas, I’ve ruined the lives of my wife and daughter because of the love for money.” Perhaps Zacchaeus too had cried like that, overcome by such sorrow. But Lord Jesus went in search of him and called him by name saying, “Zacchaeus, enough of your sorrows; make haste and come down.” He made haste and came down and took Him to his house. On the way, he stood and said to the Lord, "Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold.” Dearly beloved, commit your life in God’s hands. Let your sorrow be turned into joy. Lord Jesus says in Matthew 6:33, "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” The Bible says, "As for every man to whom God has given riches and wealth, and given him power to eat of it, to receive his heritage and rejoice in his labor; this is the gift of God" (Ecclesiastes 5:19). Accordingly, it is God who gives us the grace to enjoy the food and water we eat and drink and the riches and wealth that He gives us. You shall receive riches from the Lord to sustain your family; these shall come in search of you. Lord Jesus hung on the Cross so as to make you rich. He became poor that you through His poverty might become rich (II Corinthians 8:9). So He will give you riches! Be of good courage! Prayer: Loving Lord Jesus, You hung on the Cross for my sake. You became poor to make me rich. I set my heart on You. I choose to lead a life pleasing to You. I commit myself to lead a holy life. I trust in your divine provision. You are able to supply all my needs. Bless me richly and help me to lead a peaceful life. In Your matchless name I pray. Amen. ----
