For, the only way to avoid reproach is to be nothing, to do nothing, and to say nothing about anything and anybody. We were once enemies of God as result of sin; then we were friends of Satan. Now, we are friends of God because our sins are forgiven, we become enemies of Satan. Satan is not happy we left him for God and will not just sit-down and watch out without doing anything against us. If there is any Christian out there who is trying to stay away from trouble by all means- good-luck to you. But: There are always those; Who advocate peace at all cost; Who offer band-aids for bone-deep wounds; Who propose quick fixes that fix nothing; Who choose only path of least resistance; Who preach peace, where there is no peace; Who leave unresolved conflict and simmering resentment in their wake. If your ambition as a Christian is to avoid the troubles of life, the recipe is simple; shed your ambition in every direction, cut the wings of every soaring purpose, and seek a little with the fewest contacts and relations. Tiny souls can dodge through life bigger souls are blocked on every side. As soon as men and women begin to enlarge their lives, their resistances are MULTIPLIED. For, the only way to avoid reproach is to be nothing, to do nothing, and to say nothing. Are you still there and a Christian; How do you think that you will not be despised and rejected? Was the despised and rejected?; And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospels. Mark 10:29 Christ took this occasion to speak to his disciples about the difficulty of the salvation of those who have abundance of this world. Those who thus eagerly seek the wealth of the world, will never rightly prize Christ and his grace. Also, as to the greatness of the salvation of those who have but little of this world, and leave it for Christ. The greatest trial of a good mans constancy is, when love to Jesus calls him to give up love to friends and relatives. Even when gainers by Christ, let them still expect to suffer for him, till they reach heaven. Let us learn contentment in a low state, and to watch against the love of riches in a high one. Let us pray to be enabled to part with all, if required, in Christs service, and to use all we are allowed to keep in his service.
