For the past two days I have watched the devastation Alzheimers does to a human being and to the family trying to hold it all together. My Dad has always been a fun loving, kind, gentle man who never meets a stranger and loves his family more than life. He now cannot remember who we are ... He knows our faces but not our names. He was top in every sport he ever tried and now cant bait a hook, use a knife, swing a club or throw a ball. He stares into space trying to make sense of the mixed up mess in his head. But he is still a gentle and loving man and it hurts me to see him and my Mom suffer from this disease. It has taken his personality and his dignity. Remember to love those you love ... Tell them and show them. They may be gone in a minute. Life is short. Cherish every minute and dont sweat the small stuff. Memories are everything. Make them! I love you Dad. And Mom...you are a saint and an angel. Thank you for loving Dad and us kids. Thank God for a family that loves one another above everything else. Thank you Steven Shaw and Rod Shaw. This is my greatest gift every season.
