For this mitzvah which I am giving you today is not too hard for you, it is not beyond your reach. Deuteronomy 30:11. Which commandment? Mitzvah is singular, mitzvot is plural. So which single commandment is Moshe talking about? I submit to you that he is talking about the commandment of teshuva and blessing mentioned in the previous verses: but you will return and pay attention to what Adonai says and obey all his mitzvot which I am giving you today. Then Adonai your God will give you more than enough in everything you set out to do — the fruit of your body, the fruit of your livestock, and the fruit of your land will all do well; for Adonai will once again rejoice to see you do well, just as he rejoiced in your ancestors. “However, all this will happen only if you pay attention to what Adonai your God says, so that you obey his mitzvot and regulations which are written in this book of the Torah, if you turn to Adonai your God with all your heart and all your being. Deuteronmy 30:8-10. The one commandment is to teshuva and teshuva itself means returning to all the mitzvot and ways of HaShem. In the book of Romans even Shaul refers to one commandment being good. So the Torah is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous, and good (Romans 7:12). There are 613 commandments and all of them are good so which One commandment is he talking about? I submit to you again its the same commandment of teshuva and blessing mentioned above. The commandment to return and keep the Torah of HaShem is holy, righteous, and good. And before we get discouraged and start making excuses about how hard and impossible it is, check this out. But what does it say? The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); Romans 10:8. The IT that Shaul was referring to was the Torah. The Torah says: It isn’t in the sky, so that you need to ask, ‘Who will go up into the sky for us, bring it to us and make us hear it, so that we can obey it?’ Likewise, it isn’t beyond the sea, so that you need to ask, ‘Who will cross the sea for us, bring it to us and make us hear it, so that we can obey it?’ On the contrary, the word is very close to you — in your mouth, even in your heart; therefore, you can do it! Deuteronomy 30:12-14. Baruch HaShem! We can do it :) By the grace of our Father and King, we can adhere to His Torah, which include both physical things that Set us apart as His people as well as spiritual and emotional things that help us Grow as His people.
