For those in the US/Canada who saw this live, it was stunning. Neil Young shocked millions, and radio stations, kids in high school, and folks at work were talking about it for days. It was the first time that anyone outside of a handful of folks heard Rockin In The Free World, and he took the risk of performing it live on SNL after doing mostly acoustic music for five years, w/o Crazy Horse. The sheer feral anger and intensity with which he blew across the screen after being introduced made people gape, literally. I remember standing up in awe as this quiet guy ripped the speakers apart with a livid indictment of Bush Sr., after having once spoken in favor of Reagan. I dont know if the intensity still carries, but its worth posting, especially since Youtube keeps pulling it. Take a look.
