For those of you who know me well, you know that I’m a person of deep faith. I don’t push my beliefs on others, but I try very hard to live them. So as much as I’ve tried to stay out of this whole principal candidate controversy for the most part, I feel that I can no longer sit by and say nothing. The feel in this community for the last week and a half has been disheartening to me and I don’t like it. So as a person of faith, I know the one place I can go to get truth and that is the Bible. So here are a couple of verses that I think are important in going into tonight’s community forum. “You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgement on someone else, for at what ever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgement do the same things.” Romans 2:1-2. And then when Jesus is teaching others about judgement he says: “Do not judge, or you to will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” Matthew 7: 1-2&5 NIV. Now don’t get me wrong, everyone is entitled to an opinion. I totally respect that. What I’m saying is that we need to go about expressing ourselves in a way that is productive and isn’t shrouded in a cloud of negativity that is tearing this town apart. Not one of us in that auditorium tonight is perfect. We have all made mistakes, some more public than others. Let’s be great role models for our kids and show them that to make a decision you need to have all the facts and to do that you need to have an open mind. We all love our kids and want what is best for them. I want the Bradford of a few weeks ago back and I know we can get back there. I will continue to pray for this town and for discernment.
