For those outside of music who keep hearing stuff about Autotune and are only vaguely familiar with what it does. Autotune is used today as a generic name for software that can manipulate audio...create harmonies, fix out of tune singing or playing, change a voice into a robotic-sounding thing (the Cher effect)...pretty much anything. For a determined engineer (ie: one with a budget :D ), all this means you can play dog farts into the thing and have it spit out Luciano Pavarotti. Were already at the point where we never quite know if a singer is really singing. Actually, were at the point where we dont really need a human singer at all...but thats another story. Cool software from a technical/scientific standpoint, but on an artistic level, theres something really off-putting about all this. Anyway...props to all the singers out there ( Anastasia René ) who really do sing! You may just be a dying breed.
