For those who appreciated my story of the fly swatters I now give you ... The boat keys. Parts 1,2 and 3. Part 1: We head to the boat for a day of fun. Drag all the fun from the boat house to the boat. Load the boat with kids only to realize- no boat keys. Everyone goes to look. (In stages). Place blame on Laura Hiler ( the last one to have the keys ) and small children ( those most likely to absent-mindedly pick up keys) Give up and google lost boat keys. Part 2: Next day head to Culver Marina (1/2 hour drive) to buy replacement ignition switch. Replace Ignition switch. Start boat! Success! Cousins arrive. Load boat again and prepare to have some fun. Boat starts but dies as soon as you put it in gear. ( something not checked with earlier start). Check oil. Fill oil. Call Dad. Mom starts talking about buying new boat. Boat is 20 years old. Spend day floating on rafts. Part 3: Day 3 Dad wakes up early hauls boat to Marina. Very worried Mom will go buy new boat. Drops off boat. Comes home only to receive call boat is ready. Ignition switch was installed wrong. Boat ready and put back in water. Having some lunch before we head to the lake. I look over and there on the other side of the table, hanging from the string that opens and closes the blinds, right behind the seat I have sat in for dinner the last two nights hangs the original boat keys. Laura is happy. Because of all the places she could of put the keys we know she didnt hang them from the blinds. August pleads not guilty by reason of insanity.
