For those who are interested..... Hi fellow Hunter College students, The City Tutors (CT) is a program that is interested in directly tackling the low retention and graduation rates at school and in preparing students for life after college, using volunteer tutoring as a vehicle to accomplish both goals. Currently we are looking for tutors to volunteer and mentor students at Manhattan International High School (MIHS), which is literally located 2 blocks away from Hunter College, on 68st and 2nd Avenue. Tutoring hours are only 1 hour a week, which isnt bad at all if you ask me and the commute isnt awful either. Win-win. Plus there are plenty of benefits for the tutors that you can take advantage of. Moreover, the tutoring would last until the end of May, which is the end of the school year. We also provide our tutors with a professional case manager who will help develop their professional documents (i.e. resume, cover letter, personal statement, etc.), prepare them for jobs/scholarship/internships, and help them identify what steps they need to take to position themselves for immediate and long term goals.
