For those who do not live in Japan, we have a sender shortage of butter. Most stores are completely sold out. Apparently the reason is the only 10 percent of the milk production is allocated for making butter, and for various reasons overall milk production has fallen, meaning a shortage of butter. The government is making arrangements to import buyer but it wont be here in time for the holidays. Im watching a news program about the problem and it is saying that almost all milk products are in short supply but butter is in the worst shape. The news was also showing how bakeries are trying to debt develop cake recipes that dont use butter because the December and January holidays are when they do the most business. My wife buys butter when she sees it and puts it in the freezer until we need it, so so far we have been okay.
