For those who to know what went on at the Gawler Sport and Community Centre today / Saturday.. The Gawler Rec centre was open in order to be on stand by if needed and was originally set up to collect goods for a CFS bbq that was held this evening and run by the rotary club of Gawler light. The original call for food was put out by the council instead of the club paying for the food, this request was until 5pm and then as the centre was advised it may become an emergency relief centre, the request for more food began. During this whole time the centre was manned by council staff and they were informed to be ready incase the centre was needed for emergency relief. The bbq that was held provided the CFS headquarters and bomber crews with dinner, fruit, pizzas, water, ice blocks, bread, salads and more which had all been donated today by all the amazing people like yourselves end the local supermarkets. Rest assured your food and drinks will be used by the CFS crews nearby and those out on call outs, even CFS crews in Gawler tonight on their way home were loaded up with water and fruit for tomorrow. The town of Gawler is on stand by this evening, and will advise if the centre has to open tonight or tomorrow for relief, please follow the town of Gawler page for all info regarding local relief. Thank you to everyone who travelled from near and far to donate goods and help today at the rec centre it has been very much appreciated.
