For well over 2 years Long Beach Streets has aggressively asked - TopicsExpress

For well over 2 years Long Beach Streets has aggressively asked for bus stop signs, schedules, shelters, handicapped accessible buses, and someone to pick up the phone. Is that asking for too much? The transportation department is here to serve us, the buses are a PUBLIC SERVICE. What do we get instead? A seasonal, invisible tourist trolley that overlaps existing routes and ignores the bay side altogether. The Shoppers Special bus, as we have repeatedly suggested, could have EASILY been renamed the beach bus. The invisible tourist trolley also has invisible route information as there is no map, no timetable and no trolley sign at the LIRR station or bus station. The inefficiency in the transportation department began years ago but must end now. It is the middle of July, City of Long Beach, and our transportation department is bleeding waste and inefficiency when it should be thriving with beach tourists, spreading people to businesses throughout the city and people not wanting to drive. We demand a response. We demand the person in charge of transportation relinquish his position to someone who actually knows how to serve the public.
