For years Ive been wanting to learn more about my Gottscheer heritage. About 4 or 5 years ago I started a family tree on geni with what little I know about my family. (Nothing about the family was ever discussed.) My mother (now deceased) had a cousin who was able to put together a family tree of sorts from what she was able to learn of my mothers fathers side of the family. I know that my maternal grandfather was from the village of Schalkendorf. His name was John Pleschinger, which somehow got changed to Pleshinger (the c was dropped). Ive visited ancestry and could probably learn a lot more, but its an expensive website to join. Anyone else familiar with the Pleschinger name? My fraternal grandfather, Frank Kinkopf was, I believe, originally from Germany.
