The last time Yuvraj Singh represented India was on December 11 2013 in the third ODI against South Africa at Centurion which was washed away by rain. Since then he has represented the country in the World T20 alone and failed consistently to perform in the domestic circuit. Few weeks back, the situation for Yuvraj was so difficult that making it back to the Indian team looked like a mountain task. But the dashing southpaw has smashed 3 hundreds on the trot and started his quest for a national comeback. It was all but decided that Yuvraj won’t be a part of Indian squad for the upcoming ICC 2015 World Cup. There are some rumours which says that All- Rounder Ravindra Jadeja might miss the ICC 2015 World Cup due to a shoulder injury and it has created a lot of wave among the Indian media who are making some rubbish reports of Yuvraj Singh’s possible return to the men in blue in the cricket extravaganza that begins on February 14 in Australia and New Zealand. But in reality, Yuvraj Singh is not in contention to make it to the final 15. Here are the reasons why Yuvraj Singh won’t be selected for the World Cup. Not in India’s ODI setup Zero- The number of ODIs he had played for India in the last 13 months. Since December 2013, Yuvraj was not considered a part of India’s ODI setup as he was not considered for selection. The selectors even tried relatively names such as Ambati Rayudu, Karn Sharma, Akshar Patel, Kedar Jadhav and Cheteshwar Pujara in the year but Yuvraj failed to make the cut. It is quite clear that Yuvraj Singh is not in the scheme of things ahead of the World Cup. Poor performance His exclusion from the Indian team is backed by some poor performances from his bat. When he was given a chance in 2013, he failed to make amends as he had scored only 262 runs in 17 innings at an average of just over 16 with just two fifties. These matches are played in India where the batsmen scored tons of runs under their belt. Later he was picked in the World T20, where he didn’t perform well especially in the Finals. He then moved to domestic circuit to prove his worth where he failed to make a mark. In the first ten months, he failed to live up to the expectations in the Vijay Hazare Trophy because of which he was axed from the World Cup probables and subsequently from the BCCI contracted players’ list too. But in the last one month, he scored three centuries on the trot for Punjab, which might be too little too late for him to book a ticket to Australia. His competitors are better than him Currently, he is fighting with Ravindra Jadeja, Akshar Patel, Ambati Rayudu, Stuart Binny, Robin Uthappa and Ajinkya Rahane. Looking at their performances of these players in the past one year, there is not a single valid reason for the selectors to drop these players and select Yuvraj ahead of them. Not even included in the probables Yuvraj Singh’s hopes of making it to the World Cup was dashed when the selectors announced their 30 member probables for the World Cup. In the following days, Yuvraj was stripped off his BCCI contract, which are clear indications that Yuvraj is not in BCCI’s scheme of things atleast for the next few months. No enough reasons to have him in the Squad Yuvraj has been a proven match winner for India in the past. He was also awarded the Player of the Tournament during India’s victorious campaign in the 2011 World Cup. But apart from these, there was no other reasons for Yuvraj to make it to the squad. .
