Forecast Saturday started out overcast but it started to break-up by mid-morning and built to a storm in the afternoon. At 5.57pm a gust from the WSW was recorded at 83kph. 17mm of rain was recorded with reports of up to 50mm in some areas. Temperatures ranged from 17c to 27c Sunday was partly overcast during the morning before clearing to a warm sunny day. Today things should improve over the next few days as the upper trough moves north taking the unstable weather with it. The Downs now comes under the influence of a flow of dry air from the SW and this should keep the region fine and sunny with light SE breeze for most of the day. Temps 12c-30c Tuesday should be fine with some patchy cloud developing overnight Monday. The cloud should clear from the west during the morning and we should see a sunny afternoon. Light winds should blow from the N for most of the day. Temps 12c to 28c Wednesday will see the Downs still under the influence of the dry air mass and it should be fine and clear all day with light southerly winds swinging to the SE by afternoon. Temps 11c to 30c Thursday will see conditions start to change as an upper trough in the bight and associated surface trough starts to influence our weather. The surface trough should enter the SW of the state during the afternoon and bring a chance of storms to the SW by evening. It will remain clear over the Downs as a firm ridge sits over our region. Winds should be moderate from the NE swinging to the N by mid-afternoon. Temps 11c to 32c Friday should see the surface trough start to affect the Western Downs with some reasonable falls forecast west of about Inglewood. These showers and storms may not make it to our region Friday but we may see something early Saturday morning. Winds should be moderate from the NW tending to the W by evening .Temps 15c to 30c The weekend at this stage Saturday may see showers and the chance of a storm in the afternoon and Sunday will be fine and sunny.
